2022 Dairy Quiz Bowl Results and Resources
One of the activities GYDF supports is 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl, a competitive team event (4-5 students per team) with Cloverleaf, Junior and Senior 4-H members eligible to compete. In the double elimination tournament-style matches, students try to buzz in first and answer the questions correctly. Topics studied include milk production, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, health, processing and more.
The team divides up topics among the students so they can study their assigned areas individually and they will have team practices 1-2 times per week. Extension and 4-H agents, as well as interested adults may coach a team as a 4-H Volunteer.
Senior teams that win at the state level gain 4-H Master status and earn a spot in the national 4-H competition. Held in November, the national competition is at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, KY. NAILE includes an individual test in addition to the team contest.
