2023 4-H Dairy Judging Contest
The 2023 State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest was held Friday April 14th, at the UGA Teaching Dairy. 26 Juniors on 3 teams and 22 Seniors on 4 teams participated. Hall County won the Senior competition with team members Kylianne Brown, Mallory Kilgore, Savannah Little, and Sadie Prickett. They will represent Georgia at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI for the National 4-H contest.
Dairy Judging equips participants with critical thinking skills as they acquire a deeper understanding of dairy cattle and develop skills in identifying desirable physical traits while increasing knowledge in the animal sciences. Contestants prepare by learning the industry standards, and they gain knowledge through research, training sessions, group activities, and hands-on experiences.
