Like prior costume contests, the 2025 Dress-A-Cow at the Georgia National Fair was a huge success with more than 25 costumes and exhibitors. Although showing is about having fun, shows can be stressful, and our annual costume contests allows students to relax, have a good time, and show off their creativity in a friendly competition. Each show person's score is based on a combination of heifer costume, person costume and overall originality. First place winners receive $200, followed by second place winners receiving $150, and finally, 3rd place winners receiving $100. Entry is free, and exhibitors sign up at weigh in or in the GDYF office.
If you are interested in participating in February, feel free to look through our Facebook albums or our blog entries tagged costume contest for inspiration. One tip is to try the costume on the heifer before the show to make sure they will tolerate their newfound outfit. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Georgia Dairy Youth Foundation for more insight. Thank you to all exhibitors, parents, volunteers, idea generators, outfit assemblers, audience members, and of course our tolerant heifers who give us their best.
