2016 GDYF Golf Tournament
Beautiful weather and 60 competitive golfers graced the course of Lane Creek Golf Club in Bishop, Georgia, to benefit Georgia’s dairy youth on Friday, March 25. The 6th Annual GDYF Golf Tournament was held in memory of “Bud” Wiley, Jr., who was a dairy farmer and instrumental in organizing the first GDYF golf tournaments. Golfers began the four-person Lauderdale scramble tournament with a shotgun start at noon following a lunch sponsored by Chick-fil-a at Epps Bridge Parkway.
Carol Williams, GDYF president, welcomed golfers and thanked them for their support of the Foundation in supporting its mission of helping dairy youth succeed. An example of the GDYF’s continuous growth, Emma Newberry, Anna Bass and Makenzie Hale represented the Junior Board of Directors by assisting with the event.
During the tournament, golfers enjoyed each other’s company as well as milk and ice cream from Mountain Fresh Creamery of Clermont, Georgia. Special thanks to Gail Wiley and Sarah Baker Walker for distributing refreshments to golfers on the course.
The Godfrey’s Feed team won the tournament with team members Jake Crame, Stan Kanavage, Kip Dominey and Bruce Kelley. Second place winners were Russell Delong, Allen Powers, Jim Bottone and Philip Peters on the Walton EMC Natural Gas team. This year’s tournament raised more than $5,000 to help Georgia’s dairy youth!
Thank you to our sponsors who provide continuous support for this annual event, and the helpers who make it possible.
