Abby Joyner back for her 3rd year on the GDYF Junior Board!

Hey, My name is Abby Joyner. I am a Burke County 4-H and FFA member. I show commercial heifers, registered dairy cattle, and market hogs. I have shown commercial heifers for six years. For the past two years, I have shown registered heifers. In 2016 I was showing hogs and I am excited to get back into that arena this year also.

In 2019, I had the opportunity to purchase four registered brown swiss heifers. My herd has now grown to seven and is still growing. The age range is 4 years old to a month old. I love this little business I am growing.

When I am not in the barn I practice for contests. This past year at the Georgia National Fair I won the commissioner cup with my heifer Jangle. With 4-H, I compete in dairy judging, dairy quiz bowl, cotton boll, consumer judging, and DPA. My DPA project is over the history, process of pasteurization and homogenization. I placed 1st in my district and now will make a trip to state congress to represent my district. In FFA, I compete in prepared public speaking LDE and veterinary science CDE. I am an officer for both 4-H and FFA.

I am happy to be on the Junior Board this year. This will be my third year and I enjoy the opportunities that GDYF provides. I’m excited at what this year will have in store for GDYF. Two of my favorite events that the Junior Board help with are the Georgia Milk Conference in Savannah, GA and the annual golf tournament in Bishop, GA.

We love helping others, so don’t be afraid to reach out to any of the Jr. Board if you need any help or have questions. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell a little bit more about myself!
